Ipswich Town And Southampton Look At SPFL Player

Ipswich Town and Southampton are targeting a SPFL player.

Ipswich Town and Southampton are both looking into a move for Motherwell’s Lennon Miller.

Both teams are looking to return to the Premier League at the first attempt and believe the Scotland midfielder could help them to do just that.

The 18-year-old has been a revelation in the SPL but none more so than in 2024-25. Miller made 39 appearances, scoring four goals and getting eight assists. His form helped him get a senior call up to the Scotland squad, making his debut vs. Iceland, before registering an assist on his second appearance against Liechtenstein.

Miller is the youngest of a current crop of Scottish midfielders at the top of their game.

Scott McTominay was key in leading Napoli to a Serie A title, whilst Billy Gilmour made 28 appearances for the same side. Also in Italy, Lewis Feguson captained Bologna to the Coppa Italia, their first trophy since 1974.

Miller is also a central midfielder like his counterparts but at 18, potentially has higher ceiling than his countrymen.

The player has been an integral part of the Motherwell team over the past two seasons and is expected to leave Fir Park this summer.

Is the Championship Right For Lennon Miller?

Ipswich spent big upon their promotion to the Premier League two seasons ago but have since lost the likes of Jens Casjuste, who was one of their standout players. Kieran McKenna is in need of another central midfielder and believers Miller could be the one.

Whilst Southampton did not match the spending of the Tractor Boys, their team is much changed from the playoff winners of two years ago. New boss Will Still is need of game changers, and willing to spend big on one.

Both Championship sides will face serious competition in their pursuit of Miller.

Scottish Champions Celtic are said to be interested, alongside big-spending Serie A side Como, who could use the blueprint of McTominay and co to sell the move to the young midfielder.
