Crawley Town are set to sign their latest player, with the Bradford City defender returning to playing in League Two.
Crawley Town are one of the sides aiming for success in League Two following their relegation from League One last season.
Town, who had been promoted a season prior to their relegation, have experienced challenges so far this season which has seen them planted in 21st currently.
Meanwhile, the outfit currently sit just one point above the relegation zone and could in trouble of back-to-back relegations if they do not improve in the second half of the season.
With this in mind, the outfit could view the January transfer window as an opportunity to improve their squad in the hope of improved results and a bigger gap between them and the relegation zone.
Now, it appears that Crawley Town are closing in on their next signing with Town finalising a deal for Bradford City defender Lewis Richards, according to Dan Marsh, on his X account.
Furthermore, the journalist has stated that Richards is undergoing his medical and Crawley have beaten several sides to the defender’s signature.
The news of Richards’ inevitable departure follows an exclusive from The Lower Tiers that stated that Lewis Richards had been told his contract would not be extended and that Crawley Town and Fleetwood Town were circling around the defender.
Now, with this move close to be completed, it appears that Richards’ almost three-year spell with the Bantams has come to an end.
In his time at Bradford, the left-sided defender made 64 appearances, scoring three times. Furthermore, he was a part of the Bradford squad that was promoted from League Two last season automatically.
Meanwhile, he also has experience with Harrogate Town and spent time in the Wolverhampton Wanderers academy before moving into the professional scene.
He can play at left-back and left-wing-back, and has pace going forward into attacking situations which could aid Crawley in their pursuit for crucial points.
