Hello and welcome to our first edition of Luke and Rob Predicts where we predict two of the best EFL fixtures from each league on a weekly basis giving our opinions, interlinking statistical knowledge and giving our prediction for the games themselves. Join us as we predict four games across League One and League Two on Tuesday the 1st of April.
Luke Predicts –
Port Vale v Bradford –
Port Vale host Bradford City with the Valiants not winning a Tuesday night League match all season whilst the Bantams look to improve their away form going into the run-in. With the 2nd and 3rd best defences in the league, this affair can be seen to be a battle between defences. However, I believe that limited attacking moments will decide this game with top players from both sides battling to win this crucial top of the table clash. With this, I can seen a tight affair with both sides scoring as they contribute to a sharing of the points.
Luke’s Prediction – Port Vale 1-1 Bradford City
Doncaster Rovers v Walsall –
In our second League Two prediction, automatic promotion contenders Doncaster Rovers host Walsall – who have been hit by a spell of bad form. The two sides rank 4th and 1st on the goals scored tables with 1.5 and 1.7 goals per game. Coming into the affair, Doncaster are looking to win consecutive games whilst Walsall strive to win their first in 8. I can see a high scoring affair although think this one plays out in a draw.
Luke’s Prediction – Doncaster Rovers 2-2 Walsall
Rob Predicts-
Wycombe Wanderers vs Shrewsbury Town –
On Saturday, Wycombe scraped past mid-table side Lincoln City with a 1-0 win, Cameron Humphreys second half strike settling the game with Lincoln captain Paudie O Connor sent off in added on time for an off the field tackle. Shrewsbury had a turbulent week as Gareth Ainsworth left for League Two side Gillingham, he was swiftly replaced by Michael Appleton, despite this the Shrews remain at the foot of the table and lost 4-1 to league leaders Birmingham City. This game won’t be any easier.
Rob’s Prediction- Wycombe 2 Shrewsbury 1
Blackpool vs Reading –
In a game where both teams still hope for the play-offs, Blackpool host Reading, The home side recorded a 2-1 victory against Bolton on Saturday and a win here would take them to within two points of the visitors. Reading recorded a 3-1 win at home to Peterborough. The visitors will hope this is a big week- both on and off the field with the ownership issues they are facing.
Rob’s Prediction- Blackpool 0 Reading 2
