Luton Attacker Targeted by Championship Duo

Luton Town attacker Millenic Alli is attracting Championship Interest, as Leicester City and Middlesbrough, as an impressive run-in at the end of last season has caught the attention of the Championship Pair, reports Pete O’Rourke.

Alli has only been at Kenilworth Road since the January transfer window, but a red-hot end to the season with Luton saw him notch four goals across six starts at the end of the 2024/2025 campaign.

If The Hatters were to lose Alli, it would be another huge blow to Matt Bloomfield’s attacking options following the departure of Carlton Morris to Derby County on Wednesday.

Why Alli Is Attracting Transfer Interest

Alli managed to secure his move to Luton last January after an immense record previously with Exeter City, and alongside his scoring charts in Devon, The Hatters’ attacker is seemingly continuing to impress as the main attacker with a solid record at Kenilworth Road during his half-season period playing for Matt Bloomfield’s side.

His attacking statistics through FotMob read significantly well, with a brilliant shot accuracy at Exeter and a reasonably high conversion percentage at Luton. His xG charts read strong too with 1.91 xG on target at Luton, putting him quite high up in the EFL Championship charts, and nearly 7.00 xG on target during his opening half to the campaign with Exeter City.

What Would Be The Best Move For Alli If He Was To Depart Kenilworth Road?

With both Leicester and Middlesbrough looming for the Irish attacker, both of these EFL Championship clubs provide considerable opportunities for somebody like Alli to really kick on as the main number nine and enjoy a season full of goals.

Leicester City will of course be looking to find their replacement to Jamie Vardy, who has left the King Power Stadium by mutual consent, and somebody of Alli’s pedigree could be the perfect fit for the striker role with The Foxes. He ticks plenty of boxes, but maybe it wouldn’t be the right switch, as Leicester want to recruit a high calibre of players as they ready to try and make their instant return to the Premier League.

On the other hand, a switch up to the North-East with Middlesbrough would probably guarantee Alli a chance at more minutes, with Josh Coburn moving to Millwall on Wednesday, leaving just Marcus Forss and Tommy Conway to lead the attacking line for the Boro. Alongside the prospect of a chance to prove himself, it would see the Luton attacker returning to the Championship, and it would give the Irishman some serious experience under Rob Edwards’ Boro.

Should Alli Leave For Pastures New Or Stay At Kenilworth Road?

Given both of the opportunities away from Luton, it would be a brilliant chance for Alli to return to the Championship and grab himself some valuable experience and hopefully goals with sides of serious quality, but there is also room to consider the Irishman staying at Luton.

There’s a high chance that Luton will recieve interest for Elijah Adebayo, and if so, Millenic Alli could well lead the way for The Hatters next season in a campaign where he could notch a bucket full of goals if he does remain in Leauge One, a division he has well and truly proven his attacking ability.
