Brighton Forward Attracts Interest From Four EFL Sides

Young Brighton forward Mark O’Mahony is attracting interest from several EFL Clubs this summer, including the likes of Reading and Barnsley, in what is believed to be a season-long loan. This comes following reports from Football League World.

O’Mahony spent last season with Portsmouth on loan. However, this spell wasn’t a major success for the Irish attacker as he only scored three times in 13 appearances.

But, a loan slightly lower down into the EFL could be a brilliant prospect for the Brighton attacker.

Reading Leading Four-Club Battle

The Royals are looking to improve on a pretty strong season last year and go that step further. To do this, Noel Hunt’s side have been strengthening their squad through the signings of Paudie O’Connor and Jack Stevens.

And now, despite Leyton Orient, Barnsley and Plymouth also reportedly in the running, it’s The Royals who are reportedly leading the race to sign Mark O’Mahony this summer. This is again according to a report by Football League World.

With Reading looking to really put all of their recent troubles and other issues behind them, it seems as if they are truly gearing up for a proper push at promotion this season.

This could be one big factor why O’Mahony may sway towards the Select Car Leasing Stadium, with positive ambitions flowing around the current camp.

Mark O’Mahony Could Provide Quality To An EFL League One Side Next Year

Wherever he may end up this season, Mark O’Mahony would bring a serious injection of quality to any team at an EFL League One standard. Brighton are known to not dish out free minutes in the Premier League and with the 20-year-old already earning appearances in the top flight, it shows the talent he truly holds within.

Last season, O’Mahony was then sent to Portsmouth for some further experience a little lower down the footballing ladder after a magical spell with Brighton.

However, an injury-ridden period during his spell didn’t allow the Irishman to show his true ability. But when available, the Brighton man didn’t disappoint collecting some impressive figures despite only playing 13 times during his spell at Fratton Park.

For Leyton Orient, it could be a massive replacement for Charlie Kelman who is back with QPR following his loan with the O’s. They were also the first side interested in striking a move.

However, stepping down to any team at this standard could give O’Mahony a massive chance to prove himself. Furthermore, it would allow him to show the potential he might bring to the football pyramid in the coming years.

As such, any of the four clubs believed to be interested in the 20-year-old shouldn’t be scared at all to go in for a move.

Taking a punt on a young attacker with talent like O’Mahony could bring some serious talent to a forward line next season and it could be a low-risk, high reward situation.
