The offer has been turned down, hindering Millwall’s pursuit of the Sheffield Wednesday star as the window comes to a close.

Millwall FC

Millwall are one of the sides that are competing for promotion to the Premier League with the final few months of the season pivotal in deciding if the Lions will be involved in the promotion picture.

With this in mind, and considering that the side are fifth in the Championship currently, the January transfer window has offered the opportunity for Millwall to strengthen in key areas and to give themselves more quality ahead of key fixtures.

However, so far this month, the Lions have been limited in their business with them only signing Barry Bannan from Sheffield Wednesday.

Speaking about the signing on the official Millwall website, the Lions’ Director of Football Steve Gallen stated: “He’s a player that myself, Alex [Neil] and football fans all over the country have admired for many years.

“He has been an outstanding player for Sheffield Wednesday and one of the best players in The Championship for a number of years.

“He is bright, sharp, intelligent and has great awareness. One of the things I like about him the most is his adaptability; he can play in a number of positions, something that Alex and I have spoken about on a number of occasions.

Meanwhile, with the final days of the transfer window now here, Millwall have been looking at a move for Sheffield Wednesday player Svante Ingelsson.

However, now, according to the Sheffield Star, a bid for Ingelsson has been rejected by Sheffield Wednesday.

Ingelsson has made 27 appearances for the Owls in the Championship so far this season, scoring once. Meanwhile, the Swede has also created 25 chances whilst having nine successful dribbles.

Now, with a new rejected, Millwall have a choice to make. They could return with another bid in the hope of acceptance or could end their pursuit of Svante Ingelsson.

With the window coming to an end in just a matter of days, this decision will have to be made quickly.
