MK Dons Officially Confirm January 2026 Loan Move

MK Dons officially confirmed the news on their website as they look to improve the player’s abilities in the coming months.

MK Dons

MK Dons are having a fantastic season under Paul Warne, currently sat 5th with arguably the best squad on paper including Nathaniel Mendez Laing, Callum Paterson and new signing Curtis Nelson.

However, the Dons have sadly used less of their academy players in the league compared to previous years.

This can be seen through sending academy graduates Charlie Waller to Rochdale (now recalled) and Callum Tripp to National League side Sutton United

Combined with Simeone Troso’s loan move to Kings Lynn, it is obvious that MK Dons are not short of academy talent.

Meanwhile, very few of the under-18’s and graduates are garnering any minutes so far this season, with the most example being Jack Burke’s substitute appearance against Oxford United in the FA Cup.

With this in mind, it is understandable that many players are making the move to non-league on loan.

Who’s Next?

Reporting the news on their official website, the club have confirmed Under-18’s midfielder Rian Silver has taken the switch into men’s football as he joined Biggleswade Town.

With Biggleswade nine points behind two of the best squads we have had the pleasure to watch, in Leighton Town and Hitchin Town, Biggleswade look to close the gap and build a bumper between themselves and the rest of the division.

Bringing in Rian Silver is a fantastic move for the squad with such young and raw talent shown in the academies recent Berks and Bucks FA Cup match against Chesham secured Silver the move.

Sporting Director Liam Sweeting stated in an MK Dons statement about the move: “He’s also impressed with the First Team in various cup matches, proving his capabilities as a promising young player.” This statement shows how valuable Silver has been for The Dons

How Does This Help Rian Silver?

With more minutes now all but confirmed in men’s football, Silver can gain valuable experience of the physicality and tenacity of adult football, helping him build his craft and to build skills that he can bring that back to MK Dons to show how promising he can be.

Overall we think this is a great opportunity for the MK Dons academy man, with much room to grow in a fantastic team. What do you think, was this the right move for Silver in his career?
