MK Dons have had a bid rejected for Barrow goalkeeper Will Stanway, according to Pete O’Rourke.
The 24-year old has been an almost ever-present for the Bluebirds this season, playing 23 of the 25 games the club has had in League Two.
He has also played 19 times last season and has 9 clean sheets across the two seasons for the North-west side.
Stanway was brilliant for his side across September and October. Across games against Barnet, Walsall, Crewe Alexandra and Crawley Town, the 6 foot 4 keeper received 7.6, 7.7 and 7.8 ratings on Sofascore. Stanway has also made his debut for the England C team in March 2024.
Paul Gallagher’s team have already signed a keeper this window in Killian Barrett who signed from Sheffield Wednesday.
He was yet to make his Owls debut, however, he had loans at Solihull Moors, Rochdale and most recently Boston United lately.
The League Two outfit also have Ben Winterbottom on their books, however, this hasn’t stopped them rejecting the bid from MK Dons.
Paul Warne’s side do seem to have a serious amount of funds as they look to escape League Two. They’ve already signed the likes of Ben Wiles, Jay Matete and Curtis Nelson this transfer window.
Mk sit in fifth, but are only two points off second placed Swindon Town. Across December and January, the Dons won twice, drawing three and losing two. They do return to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-0 win away at Accrington Stanley.
Craig McGillivray and Connal Trueman are the two main keepers at Stadium MK but they do also have Tom Finch, Seb Stacey and Ronnie Sanford.
Following this bid being rejected, will Paul Warne and the board return with a fresh offer for Stanway? Or will they turn to another man between the sticks?
