MK Dons To Sign Derby County Defender

MK Dons are set to sign Derby County defender Curtis Nelson As The Third Ram To Join The Dons

Derby County defender Curtis Nelson is set to complete his transfer to League Two side MK Dons, linking up with former boss Paul Warne after completing his medical early today according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

This will be the third Ram on their way to Milton Keynes this season and the third of this January transfer window. After an ACL tear this time last January, Curtis Nelson has only featured in two games since his return in October for Derby.

Who Is Curtis Nelson?

The 32 year old will bring much experience to MK Dons, having over 500 games in EFL experience he will be giving MK Dons much needed depth in the defensive areas.

Although not the fastest he makes up for that in his aerial dominance being a great partner for Jack Sanders but also helping the progression of many Young Dons such as Jack Burke who featured in the Dons penalty defeat where he impressed both fans and coach Warne.

Linking back with former teammates Kane Wilson and Nathaniel Mendez Laing, I believe that MK Dons will be given a much needed boost between the teams cohesion.

Defensively MK Dons have struggled to keep any kind of solid form and I think with Nelson as an addition it will help massively although, still injury plagued on the flanks it may have been smart for Warne to go for a more adaptive defender who has the ability to play on the flanks.

Paul Warne & Curtis Nelson Have Worked Together Before

With a relationship with Warne already I do believe that Nelson could feature in the starting squad for Saturday’s game away from home against Accrington Stanley.

In my opinion Derby have made a grave mistake in Nelson’s exit with already low depth in the defensive sector and Derby boss John Eustace has made a blunder on letting the experienced defender go.

What do you guys think? Is this a good signing for MK Dons? Have Derby made a mistake in letting Nelson go?
