Bradford City are approaching the closing months of their first season in League One since the 2018/19 campaign with the Bantams currently sitting fourth in the English third tier.
City, managed by Graham Alexander, have arguably gone above the expectations of those who support them and of those who are looking at the club from an outside angle.
However, considering their strong season so far, there has been a hope within the Bradford fanbase that the Bantams can push on and secure back-to-back promotions.
One way in which the chances of this can be improved is through the January window, which is in its last week now.
So far this month, Bradford have signed Louie Sibley on a loan deal from Oxford United whilst also confirming that Newcastle United duo Harrison Ashby and Joe White had signed for the club.
Meanwhile, links between the club and Ethan Wheatley continue to be reported with a deal close between City and Manchester United on a loan basis.
However, whilst arrivals have been on the cards, departures have also been present at the club during the window.
Led by the departure of Andy Cook to Grimsby Town, following an exclusive from The Lower Tiers breaking the news of his departure, the club has seen several players depart.
Now, Neill Byrne has been linked with a move to local Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers.
As reported by the Telegraph and Argus, Rovers boss Grant McCann is keen to bring in a centre half in time to feature in tomorrow’s game against Leyton Orient.
The Telegraph and Argus has also stated that McCann is hoping a deal can be completed for the defender today.
The Doncaster manager has also admitted there is an urgent need for reinforcements with midfielder Owen Bailey forced to play as a centre half at the weekend against Wigan Athletic.
Speaking about his target, which he would not name, Grant McCann stated: “He is a promotion winner with two different clubs so he knows what it’s about.
“I’m hoping they’ll add a wee bit of security to it and it can release Bails a bit more.
“Hopefully all things have moved and progressed over the last few hours. We want to add a wee bit of experience to the group and this is what we’re going to do.”
Neill Byrne has made just 13 appearances for Bradford City this season and a move to Doncaster could help him to gain more game-time in the closing stages of this season.
