Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s tenure at Leicester City was a Ruud awakening for the Foxes and their higher powers, who were brutally hit with the reality of how difficult it is to survive in the Premier League.
The gamble with Ruud didn’t pay off, and now Leicester face a selling some of their key Premier League stars post relegation.
So, how do the East-Midland outfit put themselves in the best possible position to swiftly return to the top division?
Could Dyche Be The Next Leicester City Manager?
After asking a group of season ticket holders their thoughts on who should be their new manager, the most frequently said name was Sean Dyche, with the City fans I spoke to definitely preferring the idea of a more traditional, results focused set up rather than a modern, nice on the eye style of play, which is hardly surprising, especially with the Foxes’ current situation.
Dyche’s 4-4-2 formation allows for simple transitions and play, two central figures up top and creates many playing opportunities that could be beneficial to Leicester in the EFL Championship.
Danny Rohl Perhaps?
The bookies have Sean Dyche as a strong favourite, with Danny Rohl following.
Rohl’s price has significantly shortened in recent days, and I do believe that the German could be a profitable appointment as his time at Sheffield Wednesday has been impressive considering their ongoing off field issues and limited finances.
Rohl typically sets up in a either a 4-2-3-1 or a 3-4-2-1 formation which is a formation he’s used throughout his career. This formation allows for creativity, establishes midfield control and encourages more dynamic attacking movements.
Who Would Be Better?
If we ware appointing the manager in Leicester’s current circumstances, we would go with Dyche.
This is because he is a man with experience, structure, and a beautiful simplicity in his vision of the game tactically and in the way of man-management.
Another benefit of appointing the former Everton boss is that he has successfully battled against points deductions previously whilst managing the Toffees, as well as earning two promotions automatically as the Burnley manager.
Therefore, the proof is in the pudding that he has what it takes to steady the ship and be successful with the Foxes.
Despite this, as said before I see the potential in Danny Rohl.
But, for Leicester I think it would be a far bigger gamble than Dyche as a result of the lack of experience that Rohl has battling it out at the sharp end of the EFL Championship.
What Do You Think?
Do you think one of these two men have the potential to become the next Leicester City boss? Or, would you rather see someone else take over? Let us know in the comments below.
Great post, I think either could do a job but after the Ruud awakening I’d go with Dyche all day long. Proven in the Championship, I believe the Foxes can bounce back to the top flight and he will be able to replace some of the Premiership stars with units that will make the King Power a fortress!
Great post Leo!
