Liam Manning’s Norwich City are eyeing a move for Famalicao midfielder, Mirko Topic.

The Canaries are aiming to return to the top six of the Championship and have already had a busy summer, adding, Mathias Kvisrgaarden, Jacob Wright, Vladen Kovačević, Jakov Medic, Harry Darling, Louis Moulden and Daniel Grimshaw so far.

Manning’s side are now looking to add 24-year-old defensive midfielder, who played 34 times for his Portuguese club last season.

Why Target Mirko Topic?

Over recent seasons it has been fruitful for EFL clubs to look abroad to strengthen areas for a cheaper price, Norwich have not shied away from the overseas market and Topic could be another player to fit the bargain tagline.

Boss Manning is keen to add physicality to midfield, and the Serbian international brings just that.

In 2024-25, Topic won 69.5% of his tackles, alongside having a pass accuracy of 86.5%, making 3.07 long balls per game.

The midfielder has been a key part of the Famalicao team since joining from Vojvodina in his homeland of Serbia but now looks set to move to Norwich and the Championship.

A Strong Summer for The Canaries

Since plucking Manning away from Bristol City in June, the Canaries have been making a statement in the transfer window.

Darling, Moulden and Wright present strong EFL experience, whilst the likes of Kovačević and Kvisrgaarden present new talent that could help catapult Norwich up the table.

After finishing a disappointing 13th last season, returning to the playoff and promotion race has been the number one call for the Norfolk side and the team’s recruitment so far has been sensible yet exciting.

Topic would fit the latter but having played four times for his country, he represents a player ready for a move to a larger league. The Canaries may have lost star player Borja Sainz this week, but they are doing everything they can to build a squad good enough to move up the table.
