Norwich City finished 13th in the EFL Championship last season. Now, with a new season upon us, City will be aiming to improve and push towards the play-off spots.
Ahead of their opening game against Millwall on the 9th of August, I sat down with Lower Tiers writer and Norwich City fan Dylan Curtis (@NCFC_Curtis on X) to talk all City in a Norwich City interview.
Before we start, I would like to take a moment to thank Dylan for taking part in this Norwich City Interview. His insights are valuable and aim to give you a unique perspective about the new season.
The Norwich City Interview
Question 1: City Finished 13th Last Season. But, How Would You Summarize The Season?
“Very mixed. A very good start to the season had all Norwich fans believing that we were going to achieve something extraordinary that season after the disappointment in the playoffs but form very quickly dried up and it was just inconsistency throughout until a spell of bad form from around March and it got very toxic.”
Question 2: What Was Your Favourite Norwich Moment Of Last Season?
“My favourite moment has to be the last minute winner from Amankwah Forson against Coventry City, was an unbelievable moment and was a pleasure to be in the crowd for that moment.”
Question 3: What Would You Rate City’s Transfer Window Out Of 10?
“8/10 so far. We have almost got everything we needed apart from 2/3 incomings. Now pre-season is coming to an end we may start seeing more departures as the only one apart from the players we released at the end of their contracts has been Borja Sainz to FC Porto in Portugal.”
Question 4: What Has Been The Club’s Best Signing Of The Window?
Mathias Kvistgaarden would be the obvious choice here. However, I’m going to go with Harry Darling on a free transfer.
He’s a great age for a footballer right now, he’s also experienced in the division and has previously worked with Liam Manning during their time together at MK Dons. We also beat off significant competition to sign him from the likes of Birmingham City who are making some great signings.”
Question 5: What Area Of The Squad That Needs Improving And Why?
“We need more wingers. We currently only have two contracted first-team wingers at the club (new signing Papa Diallo and Matej Jurasek) although we are looking at a Premier League loan to reinforce those positions.”
Question 6: Are Norwich Prepared For Next Season?
“If the transfer window closed today, no. However, there’s still time and I’m convinced that we will complete some signings and departures before the deadline.”
Question 7: What Do You Think Of The Club Currently?
“I feel extremely positively about it right now. We’ve got a great manager and it’s clear that the togetherness of the team is there. We just need to ensure that the main characters in that dressing room stay at the club.”
Question 8: Is Liam Manning The Right Manager For Norwich City?
“As I have said, I think he is a great manager and he comes with different ideas. He also has shown that he is capable of deploying different tactics and formations throughout his career.”
Question 9: Who Is Norwich City’s Best Player Currently?
“As of now (before he inevitably gets sold), Josh Sargent. He’s such a crucial player to the club and, for me, is definitely the best striker in the league. His importance to the team is so important and without him the team struggles usually, especially throughout the last couple of seasons.”
Question 10: Can You Give Me Your Prediction For How Norwich City Will Do Next Season?
“The league is shaping up to be extremely competitive and is stacked with quality but I believe we can at least get in the playoffs.”
