Notts County: What Is Needed For Promotion?

Notts County are currently one point off the automatic promotion places in League Two this season, with a return to League One on course for the Magpies.

Currently in fourth place on 64 points, Notts County are in reach of an automatic promotion place with Cambridge United, MK Dons and Bromley only a few points ahead of the Magpies as they hold the spots in the top three.

The Magpies will have to overtake either MK Dons or Cambridge United to reach the top three and an automatic promotion place.

Pressure vs Opportunity

Last season, Notts County agonisingly missed out on promotion to the third tier, losing 2-0 to AFC Wimbledon across two legs in the play-offs.

This means the Magpies will do whatever it takes to secure an automatic promotion place to League One, which will be their first time back in League One since the 2014-15 season.

Form Is Key For Notts County

With Notts County winning their last four games at home, their home form could prove to be crucial.

County have won 10 of their 16 home games making Meadow Lane a fortress for the Magpies and a difficult place to visit.

The away form is not as good winning just seven times, showcasing where Notts County struggle.

The Magpies will be hoping Meadow Lane remains a fortress this weekend when they host local rivals Chesterfield.

Complacency

With just 11 games remaining this campaign, County will be hoping they can put together a run of form to help aid their promotion push.

One of those remaining games is a huge clash against Cambridge United, which could decide which of the two go up automatically.

Conclusion

County will have to be consistent and win several games and hope for not too many draws or losses as the season reaches its climax.
