Oldham Athletic currently sit in the bottom half of EFL League Two, so as a result, could look to recruit on deadline day.
The January transfer window is still open, with Oldham Athletic sitting 16th in the League Two table following the side’s playing 27 games so far this campaign.
However, with the deadline on the horizon today, the Latics could look to improve their squad to both give themselves more depth in certain areas, whilst also giving them more chances to avoid relegation and climb up the table.
This article outlines three potential signings that Oldham Athletic could pursue prior to the deadline of the window.
Will Harris has scored 17 goals in the National League so far this campaign, with the forward also assisting on three occasions as well.
Furthermore, in the Striker’s 23/24 season with Spennymoor Town, the 25-year-old scored 16 goals in 46 appearances.
Meanwhile, Oldham Athletics’ squad combined have scored 28 goals during their League Two campaign thus far.
With this in mind, the addition of Harris to Micky Mellon’s side could help provide more quality and goal-scoring threat to the side.
However, questions could arise about his ability to make the step up from the National League to League Two.
In his time at Forest Green Rovers this campaign, Kyle McAllister has featured 30 times for the National League side.
Furthermore, the winger has netted 11 goals and contributed to four assists as well as this last season, the 27-year-old picked up 10 goals and 10 assists.
As a winger, McAllister could boost the amount of options available to Mellon in that position, aiding him in his 4-4-2 shape.
Meanwhile, the former Patrick Thistle man has been eyed by multiple clubs this window, arguably creating questions around where he is going to be playing in the future months of the season.
However, with Rovers flying high in the National League and with the winger receiving regular gametime, the option could be ambitious.
Jamie Cooke has scored three goals and contributed to one assist for Halifax Town in the National League so far this season.
Furthermore, in the winger’s last spell at Halifax, the 24-year-old scored nine goals and picked up three assists in 50 appearances.
Meanwhile, Jack Stevens and Tom Pett, who played in Oldham’s last match against Cambridge United, have scored just four goals between them this season so far.
With this in mind, the addition of Cooke to Mellon’s side could help to provide depth and improved assisting and scoring ability.
However, questions could arise about his ability to make the step up to League Two from the National League.
