Oscar Fraulo Praises Squad Depth and Fan Support

Derby County midfielder Oscar Fraulo reflects on his first months at the club, praising the squad’s depth and the fans’ support.

Derby County

Since joining Derby County in January, Danish midfielder Oscar Fraulo has made an immediate impression at the club, both on and off the pitch.

The 22-year-old was the Rams’ first signing of the January transfer window, arriving from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a deal that runs until the summer of 2029 for an undisclosed fee.

Fraulo made his full league debut in Derby’s 2-0 win over Swansea City, helping the team claim three points and boost confidence in the squad.

Adjusting to Life in England

Fraulo has enjoyed a strong start in England, settling quickly into both life at the club and the demands of Championship football.

“I have really liked my start here. It was easy to come into the team because there are good players here and they helped me.

So, it was easy for me. And, in general, I have found that English football is really open and nice.”

The midfielder has found cultural similarities between England and Denmark have helped him adapt, while his teammates’ support has made the transition even smoother.

“I think English culture is like the Danish one. It’s open, and people want to help you. It has been made easier by my new teammates.

And I’ve just come straight into it. There have been seven games already, and I’ve been here a little bit more than one month.

That’s the best way to come into a team, just go straight into playing games and being part of the team. So, it’s been comfortable for me so far.”

Embracing the Championship

Fraulo says he enjoys the intensity and pace of the Championship, praising the constant back-and-forth nature of games.

“I like it. I like that the ball is always going back and forth. When you win your duels and when you’re one against one, then you have a lot of chances to play, too.”

Reflecting on his debut, he highlighted the collective effort that led to victory over Swansea City.

“It was a good win. I think it was a good performance from the whole team.

We had some difficult periods during the game, but in the end, we won 2-0, which brings three points and more confidence to the team.”

Inspired by Fan Support

Off the pitch, Fraulo has been struck by the dedication of Derby supporters. During a signing session at Pride Park Stadium, he saw first-hand how much the fans mean to the club.

“Especially after the signing, now I really understand how much support we have. I think some people were standing for like three hours and just waiting for us.

So, it’s crazy to have so much support. We will try to do our best to give them something back on the pitch.”

Squad Depth and Potential

Fraulo has been impressed by the Rams’ squad, highlighting both its depth and potential to play at an even higher level.

“I think we have a really good team. We have a big squad, a lot of players who we can change, who can give us new energy.

I think we have a lot of potential, and the good thing is we are playing well, but we can play even better. So, I think that’s also a good sign.”

He is determined to give his all, whether he is starting games or coming off the bench.

“And I will just do my best to push the other players, if I’m not playing or if I’m playing. I want to give everything – play as much as possible – do a good job and work hard for the club.”

Looking Ahead

With the Rams preparing for their away trip to Watford, Fraulo remains focused on helping the team push for play-off positions.

His early performances suggest he will be a key figure as Derby look to build momentum in the second half of the season.

“I want to give everything, play as much as possible and just do a good job and hard work for the club.”
