Sheffield Wednesday expect to announce the imminent arrival of double signing’s Liam Cooper and Nathan Redmond.
Liam Cooper
Cooper, 34, is now a free agent after leaving CSKA Sofia over the summer and is eyeing a return to the EFL.
The Scotsman has plenty of experience in the EFL, having played for clubs such as Huddersfield Town, Chesterfield, and, most recently, Leeds United.
Cooper, standing at six feet 1, and having plenty of experience at Wednesday’s level, should help boost the struggling owls in their search for a miracle to avoid the drop this season.
The former Leeds captain will bring leadership and composure to an Owl’s backline when they need it most.
Overall, Cooper is expected to land in Sheffield today and should be putting pen to paper extremely soon.
Nathan Redmond
The Owls also seem likely to land the signing of Nathan Redmond.
Redmond, who has previously played for Burnley, Norwich and Southampton, is without a club after being released by the Clarets.
He now searches for a new challenge, which seems to be at Hillsborough.
The 31-year-old eyes a return to football at the dismal Sheffield Wednesday. So far this season, Wednesday’s attacking output has been nothing short of poor during a difficult time for the club.
Redmond will be hoping to reinvent that output, hopefully finding the breakthrough the owls need.
Having played plenty of games at the Championship level for most of his career, the winger knows what it takes to succeed in such a difficult league.
This sets him apart from younger players who have no experience playing in one of the most competitive leagues in England.
Summary And Off-field Problems At Sheffield Wednesday
Overall, the signings of Liam Cooper and Nathan Redmond show us that Wednesday have not accepted defeat.
After all the struggles off the pitch, finally bringing in some experienced and highly regarded players who have played right at the very top of the Championship signifies the Owls’ intent to fight until the very last whistle.
Hopefully opening a new beginning for the club as they search for a way to survive under the upmost amount of pressure.
