Peterborough United finished 18th last season. Now, with the 2025-26 season upon us, Posh will be looking to improve.
Ahead of their opening game against Cardiff City on the second of August, I sat down with Lower Tiers writer and Peterborough United fan Kai Leitch (@KaiLeitch_ On X) to talk about the club in this Peterborough United interview.
Before we start, I would like to take a moment to thank Kai for taking part in the Peterborough United interview. His responses were insightful and aim to reflect the mood in the Posh fanbase.
“A tough one to say the least. With little to no EFL experience, the players took awhile to gel and build up to League One football with our best run coming from late February to April where we had six wins, three draws and only lost once.”
“Easily winning the Vertu Motors Trophy. We were facing a club that was expected to win even if they played their B team. We were also outnumbered massively but we dug in and two fantastic goals from our academy graduate Harley Mills and former Leyton Orient and now Watford midfielder Hector Kyprianou won the game for us.”
“Eight out of ten. Kyrell Lisbie is looking to be our best bit of business so far having fought off both Championship and League One interest to get him in. Alex Bass finally looks like the addition which will solidify our number one spot after having four goalkeepers in the past 3 seasons. Finally, the signing of Brandon Khela from Birmingham City is already looking to be a fantastic signing.”
“I don’t think we can say yet given players haven’t had time to integrate and prove their skill but from performances so far, I would say Alex Bass who has only conceded one goal across six pre-season games.”
“Probably our left-back position. Harley Mills is currently our #1 but with him only being 19, he is still very young. Furthermore, our other left back, Rio Adebisi, has played a total of 12 minutes for us as a result of two knee injuries that kept him out of action for the entire season.”
“For the most part we have looked good in preseason. But we’ve also had some bad performances which is to be expected at this moment. Therefore, I would say we are.”
“We are definitely a wildcard. If the signings live up to expectations, then we could get into the automatic promotion places but we could just as easily be relegated.”
“It depends if he’s been given the players he needs. If he has a team that will fight for each other and give it all, then he can definitely achieve top six.”
“It has to be Archie Collins. He’s an experienced League One centre-midfielder who bosses the midfield and always gives his all.”
“As I said previously, it is a massive hit or miss. We will either be right up there or fighting relegation.”
