Player Ratings: Crawley Town vs Barnet FC

Crawley Town rescued another point late on at home to Barnet FC on Tuesday evening, courtesy of a Danilo Orsi penalty in the 89th minute with the game finishing 1-1 at the Broadfield Stadium. Check out my player ratings below.

Starting XI

Jacob Chapman: 7 (GK)

  • The Huddersfield Town loanee had very little to do but was forced into a few good saves, most notably a quick save at full stretch to deny former Crawley player Kabongo Tshimanga, who got away from his man before unleashing a powerful strike towards goal, which was saved well by the Aussie and pushed behind for a corner.
  • His distribution was solid as usual with a lot of goal kicks played out wide looking for Johnny Russell’s head.

Scott Malone: 7 (CB) – OFF 72′

  • The experienced professional enjoyed a lively battle with Idris Kanu but the Crawley Town defender dealt with him well. He made a few important interceptions, tackles and blocks, and was vocal in organising the backline. He was withdrawn in the 72nd minute of play for Akin Odimayo as he looked to limp off the field of play with an injury.

Geraldo Bajrami: 6 (CB)

  • The Burton Albion loanee had little to do but dealt with Barnet’s lone striker Kabongo Tshimanga successfully. He also won a lot of aerial duels and was an important part of Crawley’s build up when they chose to play out from the back on occasions.

Charlie Barker: 7 (CB)

  • The Reds defender proved his consistency once again with another solid display. He performed well defensively and likewise in an attacking sense, by stepping in and helping transition the ball up from back to front. He made a great interception early on to deny a Barnet attacker bearing down on goal and continued to throw himself into tackles throughout the match.

Johnny Russell: 7 (LWB) – OFF 62′

  • The Crawley Town wing-back won a lot of headers from goal kicks, rising well and flicking them on in a bid to start an attack for the Reds. He was involved in a lot of Crawley’s build up play down the left-hand side. The January signing was the replaced by Harry Forster in the 62nd minute of play.

Jay Williams: 7 (CM)

  • The Crawley captain had two quickfire chances following a freekick in the fourth minute of play. The initial chance hit the post before a goalmouth scramble saw it fall back at his feet, which he swung at but was blocked by a Barnet defender. He battled hard in the Crawley midfield and was involved in many aerial duels.

Taylor Richards: 8 (CM)

  • He moved the ball well in the middle of the park during the first half of proceedings and really got into his stride in the second half, becoming a real attacking outlet for Lindsey’s side. He progressed well with the ball and found himself in great attacking positions, and able to pick out fellow teammates with some intelligent decision making.

Kellan Gordon: 8 (RWB)

  • The wing back found himself in a lot of space on the right-hand side throughout the match and he utilised it well, getting himself in great crossing positions and delivering some dangerous balls into the box. He made a great block to stop Kabongo Tshimanga on the counter attack in the first half. He won the penalty for Crawley’s late equaliser, once again beating his man to the ball similarly to that of the Swindon game where he scored late on getting there just before the opposing player.

Dion Pereira: 7 (AM) – OFF 83′

  • The former Luton Town and Bradford City man, played a big part in Crawley’s build up play and linked up well with Kellan Gordon down the right-hand side. He was always involved and got into dangerous positions through either a piece of skill or a drop of the shoulder in which he was able to shrug off his marker. He was replaced by Tobi Adeyemo in the 83rd minute of play.

Klaidi Lolos: 7 (AM) – OFF 62′

  • The Peterborough United loanee made some important contributions to the Crawley’s build up play, but struggled to find any real momentum in the match and was subbed off in the 62nd minute of play for the introduction of Ronan Darcy.

Danilo Orsi: 7 (ST)

  • He held up the ball well on many occasions and brought others into play. The Crawley striker did a lot of hard work up the top end of the pitch but no real chances came the way of the 29 year old. He scored the equalising goal for the Reds with a confident penalty that was fired into the bottom right corner, rescuing a point for Lindsey’s side late on.

Substitutions:

Ronan Darcy: 6 (AM) – ON 62’

  • Entered the field of play just past the sixty-minute mark and added a real spark to the Crawley attack, looking to be a creative outlet for the Reds as they looked to get back into the match. The Wigan Athletic loanee had a powerful strike from about 20 yards out forcing a vital save from the Barnet keeper deep into stoppage time as the Reds looked to snatch it at the death.

Harry Forster: 6 (LWB) – ON 62’

  • He came on and injected pace and energy into the game, giving his fellow Crawley teammates a lift as they looked to get on top in the match and find an equaliser, which they did late on.

Akin Odimayo: 6 (CB) – ON 72’

  • The Crawley centre-back didn’t have much to do defensively when he came on.

Tobi Adeyemo: 6 (ST) – ON 83’

  • The Watford loanee won the header before Kellan Gordon was brought down in the box and used his physicality well when he entered proceedings.
