Portsmouth have secured the future of a rising academy star with a first professional contract after standout performances this season.

Portsmouth Football Club are delighted to announce that teenage forward Tayo Singerr has signed his first professional contract, marking a major milestone in the youngster’s development at Fratton Park.

The 18-year-old’s deal underlines the club’s continued commitment to rewarding academy talent and providing a clear pathway into senior football.

While Portsmouth have not disclosed the length of the contract, the agreement secures Singerr’s immediate future as he continues to establish himself in and around the first-team squad.

Breakthrough Moment

Singerr has enjoyed a season to remember, highlighted by a memorable senior debut earlier in the campaign.

The young forward was introduced from the bench against Reading in the Carabao Cup and made an instant impact, finding the net at Fratton Park to announce himself on the senior stage.

That goal proved a significant moment not only for Singerr personally, but also for the club’s academy setup, showcasing the progress being made by young players stepping up into competitive first-team environments.

Championship Step

Further recognition of Singerr’s progress followed on New Year’s Day, when he made his Championship debut away at Bristol City.

Brought on as a substitute, the teenager gained valuable experience at second-tier level and another opportunity to test himself against senior opposition.

His involvement at Championship level reflects the trust placed in him by the coaching staff and highlights the strides he has made over the course of the season.

Loan Success

Alongside his first-team involvement, Singerr has benefited from a productive loan spell with Moneyfields in the Isthmian League South Central Division.

The forward enjoyed an impressive run in front of goal, scoring 14 times in 18 appearances during his time with the non-league side.

That spell has provided crucial exposure to the physical demands and challenges of men’s football, helping accelerate his development and confidence in competitive environments away from the academy structure.

Mousinho Praise

Head coach John Mousinho praised Singerr’s progress and highlighted the merit behind his involvement at senior level.

“Tayo has made a big step up this season and has featured for the first team on merit,” Mousinho said.

“It was great to see him score his first goal in senior football against Reading, while he has also shone in the men’s game while out on loan.”

“The progress Tayo has made means he fully deserves this deal and we are all excited to see how his career continues to develop.”

Academy Journey

Academy manager Greg Miller also expressed his delight at Singerr signing professional terms, highlighting the forward’s commitment and growth since joining the club.

“I am delighted that Tayo is extending his time at the club through this professional contract,” Miller said.

“The journeys of all young players look very different, with not all being with us from their start point.

“Tayo was signed just four years ago and has shown a real commitment to improve in every area on and off the field.”

Looking Ahead

Miller also paid tribute to the staff who have supported Singerr throughout his development and acknowledged the significance of the moment for the player and his family.

“It’s great news for all the academy staff, present and past, who have supported Tayo and, of course, brilliant for him and his family.”

With his first professional contract now secured, Singerr will look to continue building on his strong progress as he aims to cement his place within Portsmouth’s senior setup in the seasons ahead.
