Portsmouth Forward Targeted By Championship Club

Portsmouth are at threat of losing the forward as he is eyed by the Championship outfit in the closing weeks of this window.

Preston North End are looking to complete the signing of Portsmouth forward Callum Lang according to Pepe Lacey yesterday afternoon.

This is now Preston’s second bid for Pompey forward after having a bid rejected in the summer transfer window.

Preston are currently sat sixth in the EFL Championship after narrowly missing out on relegation by one point in the 2024-25 season.

After catching many teams off guard last season and making Fratton Park a fortress finishing 16th in the division.

However Pompey are now sat 22nd in the league and are struggling to form any sort of consistency so far in the season.

The Departure Of Callum Lang

With many Portsmouth fans being vocal about the idea of Lang’s departure being smart business from the club with his contract expiring in June of this year.

The added inflow of his transfer may lead to a potential signing that, personally we believe, Portsmouth desperately need to get themselves outside of the relegation zone and keep a buffer between themselves and the other relegation contenders.

Callum Lang is rated by many for when he has played.

However, the forward has only made the squad for nine games during the 2025-26 season missing out many games due to injury.

With Portsmouth needing consistency to stay up this season it might be wise to accept the bid for Lang and reinvest in a less injury prone forward that, in a worst case situation, will be a player that will thrive in League One next season.

What do you guys think? Is the forward’s departure the right move for Portsmouth? Are Preston North End using their resources wisely for a possible promotion push to the English top flight? Let us know on social media.
