Rating Stockport County’s Summer Signings

In the summer transfer window Stockport County made a staggering nine new signings with several players departing the club.

The Hatters have also since brought in another new signing in veteran defender Jack Hunt who found himself without a club in the early stages of the season.

But which of these signings have been successful so far during their time and Edgeley Park?

Corey O’Keefe 5/10

Corey O’Keefe who is known as a Right Wing Back who loves to get forward was brought in on loan in July after both County’s Right Backs departed in the summer. O’Keefe has endured a mix start to his career at Edgeley Park.

So far He has made 14 League One appearances and has had some promising moments. However at times he has looked vulnerable in defensive positions and his positional play often isn’t as good as it should be.

In recent weeks O’Keefe has found it difficult to to nail down a starting position.

Owen Dodgson 6/10

Owen Dodgson who is a product of Manchester United’s academy was on loan at Burton Albion for the 2024/25 season. At Burton he had a very good season and attracted interest from many clubs. Dodgson started the season strongly and managed two assists in the EFL Cup against Crewe.

Since then however, it hasn’t all gone his way. Dodgson has struggled with injury and has also missed a match through suspension.

Currently contracted to Burnley, Stockport have an obligation to buy Dodgson when his one year loan expired so they will be hoping that he can get back to the standards which he displayed in the early parts on the season.

Joseph Olowu 7/10

Joseph Olowu was a key part of Doncaster Rovers title winning side in League Two. As the end of the 2024/25 season marked the end of Olowu’s Doncaster contract, there were many clubs after his signature. Stockport won the race and signed the centre back in July.

Since then Olowu has had a decent start to his life at Edgeley Park playing 16 league games and scoring two goals along the way, including the only goal in a 1-0 win against Blackpool. He has endured a positive start to life in blue and both Olowu and Stockport will be hoping that this continues.

Arttu Hoskenen No Rating

After losing Fraser Horsfall to Blackpool in July, Stockport opted to look abroad for his replacement. They managed to secure the services of a Finnish international Centre Half by the name of Arttu Hoskenen from Polish side Cracovia.

Hoskenen is a player with great pedigree and has previously scored against England in the UEFA Nations League. However since arriving in Stockport Hoskenen has been injured and has not registered an appearance.

Everybody at the club will hope that Hoskenen’s experience can give County a big boost in the latter stages of the season.

Tayo Edun 7/10

In the summer of 2025 Stockport County lost Ibou Touray to Bradford City and also decided to let Ryan Rydel go on loan to Exeter City. They needed reinforcements at Left Back. As well as signing Owen Dodgson, they also completed the signing of Tayo Edun from Charlton Athletic.

The latter spent the back end of the 2024/25 on loan at Peterborough United who were keen to sign him on a permanent basis. Edun instead decided to sign for County. Since the move Edun has only managed 4 appearances due to injury.

In these appearances Edun has been impressive. He has lots of quality going forward and looks assured defensively. There is competition for his position but Edun has certainly impressed in his first few games.

Jack Hunt 7/10

At the start of the season Jack Hunt found himself without a club. He spent his previous two seasons at Bristol Rovers. When Stockport hit an injury crisis in November they decided to sign the defender on a short term contract running until January. Since the move Jack certainly hasn’t disappointed.

He has made six appearances for the Hatters and his most notable performance can against Barnsley. Stockport found themselves 1-0 down at half time and had been dominated.

Hunt came on at half time and steadied the ship. Stockport dominated the second half and salvaged a point. Hunt assisted the goal with a cultured cross.

Brad Hills 7/10

Having spent the back end of the 2024/25 season on loan with the club, the Hatters were keen to make the signing permanent.

Late into the transfer window Norwich City were comfortable that they could afford to let the Centre Back leave.

Hills was a huge part of the Stockport side in the late stages of last season and has shown his qualities at stages this season. Hills is currently struggling for consistency however this isn’t surprising as he is still young and didn’t get to prepare for the season with Stockport County.

When he gets back to the form everybody knows he can get to he is certainly a player who is capable of big things.

Tyler Onyango 6/10

Onyango is a familiar face at Stockport County having spent the first half of the 2024/25 season with the Hatters before getting injured.

Capable of playing midfield or right back, Stockport again brought him in on loan from Everton. Onyango has been yet again plagued by injuries and has only made nine appearances in all competitions.

Although he has shown some bright sparks in blue he also got sent off against Huddersfield. After a month side-lined through injury Onyango is now back available and will hope he can get a run of games where he can really show his potential.

Ben Osbourne 8/10

Ben Osbourne signed on loan for County in September after not being in favour at parent club Derby County in the early stages of the season. Osbourne is a player who had only played Premier League and Championship Football before this move. Predominantly a Central Midfielder, Osbourne started his County Career at Left Wing Back due to an extensive injury list.

Osbourne didn’t look out of place in this position and was extremely consistent. He has now started to play in midfield for the Hatters and has continued to show his quality and know how. He is certainly a player that County need to keep fit as he has the potential to have a big impact on this promotion chasing side.

Malik Mothersille 5/10

Mothersille came to Stockport County as the clubs record signing. He had a breakthrough season with Peterborough United in the 2024/25 campaign which gained attention from many clubs including championship clubs.

He decided to sign for the Hatters and scored on his debut against Bolton Wanderers in a 2-0 win. However, since then Mothersille hasn’t adapted well to his move and has even struggled for minutes at Edgeley Park.

Mothersille is only 22 and is on a long term contract so he still has plenty of time for his fortune to change.

Nathan Lowe 6/10

After an extremely successful spell with Walsall in League Two in the early stages of last season where he scored 15 goals in 22 games in the league, He was recalled by parent club Stoke City where he remained for the second half of the season.

There was plenty of clubs trying to get the talent on loan in the summer. Stoke eventually agreed a deal with the Hatters.

Since arriving Lowe has seen mixed fortune, he has struggled to get consistent minutes for the club and although he has scored some vital goals when he has played he has not done enough to earn himself a regular spot in the team.

The youngster is somebody who is a proven goal scorer and when he does get a good run of games you wouldn’t bet against him having a serous impact on the League One Title Race.
