As per Adam Drury, both Jeremy Ngakia and Jeremy Petris are set for a long spell on the sidelines as Watford close in on the business end of the championship season.
Ngakia missed the 1-1 draw at Hillsborough against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday evening, while Petris was withdrawn early in the first half.
Until now, the Englishman has been having his best run in a Watford shirt with three goals and four assists.
In previous seasons, Ngakia has only managed nineteen, fourteen, fifteen and twenty-nine appearances due to injury.
Head Coach Ed Still confirmed that the full back sustained a hamstring injury in the 2-1 victory at Bristol City, where Ngakia got the winner with a wonder strike.
When asked about the extent of the injury, Still said: “I don’t know exactly if it’s going to be more like two weeks or four weeks.”
“ We’re taking it day by day with him to see how he reacts”
The Frenchman was forced off after 23 minutes on Tuesday night, after a collision when losing the ball.
Petris suffered a dislocated shoulder after the collision, resulting in his substitution as he was replaced by Marc Bola.
When asked by the media in his press conference today about the fullback, Ed Still said, “he’ll be out”.
“His dislocation of the shoulder was quite severe, so he won’t be with us“.
The former Charleroi coach has confirmed that James Abankwah will replace the pair at full back, after playing 67 minutes in that role on Tuesday night.
When asked if The Irishman can fill the void from Ngakia and Petris’s injury, Still said: “We’re confident he’s our best option there“.
“He’s done it before, he’s got great physicality and great pace.”
Abankwah will have to face the task at right back as Watford head to Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium
