Rotherham United Lead Several League One Sides In Race For Defender

Rotherham United are leading multiple League One sides to the signing as they look to improve their squad quality.

Rotherham United are one of the outfits in League One that are approaching the closing months of the season. The Millers, 23rd in the league ahead of their weekend clash with AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, appear to be in trouble of relegation.

With this in mind, the January transfer window (which is currently ongoing) can be said to be one of the most important periods of the season with it offering the opportunity to improve the depth and quality of their squad and to push themselves further up the table.

So far this month, United have signed Leeds United striker Harry Gray on a loan basis until the end of the season.

Now, it appears that the side are closing in on another signing with Rotherham leading the race ahead of other League One outfits such as Stevenage and Wycombe Wanderers for Emmanuel Adegboyega according to the Pink Un.

Emmanuel Adegboyega had a successful loan spell at Scottish side Dundee United last campaign before returning to Norwich ahead of the 2025-26 season.

However, the 22-year-old hasn’t formed part of their Championship squad due to other defensive options being selected ahead of him.

As a result of this, the defender has been with Norwich City’s Under-21s side and has played in the Premier League 2 this season with him making two appearances and scoring one goal.

With this in mind, a move to Rotherham in League One could aid him in his professional development and could give him the opportunity to prove himself to those at Norwich.

Meanwhile, for the Millers, this move could help them to build more depth and quality which could help them as they look to avoid the drop to League Two.

Now, fans may look towards Rotherham to see if any further progress is made in this deal as the closing weeks of the window approach.
