Rotherham United currently sit 15th in League One following the opening twenty games of the season.
United, who are now in their second season in the division following relegation from the Championship, are just two points away from the relegation zones in the division.
Meanwhile, Rotherham are also eight points away from sixth placed Stockport County, who have 32 points currently.
With these figures in mind, the January transfer window could offer an opportunity for the South Yorkshire outfit to recruit and boost their league position in the second half of the season.
However, retaining key players may also be important.
Manager Matt Hamshaw has provided Rotherham fans with an update on the future of Manchester United loanee Daniel Gore.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, Hamshaw stated: “If we get to the end of January and he’s still here it would be a great signing.
“Sometimes it’s hard with loans. You want your loan players to come in and really do well and then when they do well you might lose them in January.
“I think Dan is enjoying it here, I’m in regular contact with Man United and they seem happy with him here but if anyone comes in with an offer that blows us out of the water then he’s going to go.
“Our plan is that he stays here. He wants to stay here, he’s enjoying playing games.”
Meanwhile, Daniel Gore himself has spoke on the situation stating: “I’m really happy here, I just take it game by game Man United have said just keep getting the games under your belt, keep playing well.”
With this update now provided, attention could turn to Rotherham United and Manchester United to see what choices are made in the upcoming January transfer window.
Furthermore, with the window close, a decision may arrive soon.
