“They Were Incredible” – Schumacher Dedicates Win to Fans

Bolton Wanderers finally won an away game this season, with a late win over Huddersfield Town that boss Steven Schumacher credits to the fans support.

Steven Schumacher dedicates Bolton Wanderers last gasp win over Huddersfield Town to the travelling support, labeling them “incredible”.

Wanderers wait for an away win ended as they came back from one-nil down to beat the Terriers with two goals in stoppage time.

The Trotters, who missed numerous chances throughout the game, looked destined to continue their awayday woes until Amario Cozier-Duberry sent a cross into the box for Sam Dalby to nod home in the 92nd minute.

Schumacher’s men weren’t done there. Less than two minutes later Aaron Morley launched a counter attack, leading to Mason Burstow setting Cozier-Duberry to send the away end wild.

The Bolton boss admitted how much the 2,300 strong travelling support helped his team over the line.

“We had to work incredibly hard for what we got, but I do feel as though we got what we deserved,” Schumacher said to the Bolton News. “I think they started the game really well.

“Credit to them. They did something slightly different in how they were trying to build than what we prepared for.

“I’ve said this to you all season, I don’t want to become that guy who says the same thing every week and doesn’t win. But we have played like that. The data and the numbers have said exactly the same, and we haven’t got what we’ve deserved from away performances.

“Tonight we did, and that’s because the players kept going, they kept believing in what we were doing. The energy that we played with, the subs that came off the bench made a huge impact. And I must say, a large part of that is down to our crowd as well.

“They were outstanding in that second half, and I just plead with them to keep sticking with us. It’s frustrating when you don’t win a game of football for everyone, but we need the support because the lads really thrive off it. And if we’ve got that support and we’ve got that backing, we will give 100 per cent effort every week.

“That’s guaranteed. And if we’ve got that support, then we can go far.”

Wanderers fans have become more vocal over recent weeks at the lack of results on the road. Despite doubts, fans still sold out the away end.

According to the Schumacher, it’s this continued support that allows his team to get victories and hopes it continues in games to come.

“Our fans got behind us, so that’s what I’m most pleased about, because it would have been easy, for the fans to turn against us, but they didn’t, and that inspires you.

“I’m so pleased for them, because they travel up and down the country in their numbers and support us, so to get nights like this is great for them. Now they can all enjoy the weekend.”

Schumacher’s Bolton Turning the Tide

The win over Huddersfield marks Bolton’s first away win this season and extends their unbeaten run against the Terriers to four games.

Schumacher’s side were not labelled as a favourite for promotion but within the club and their fanbase, it is seen as a manageable target.

Bolton are unbeaten at home and the major sticking point on the season so far, was the inability to pick up point on the road, a run that ended at Huddersfield.

Boss Schumacher will be hoping the win can galvanise his players as they head into a run of two straight home games in the league against tricky oppostion.

First they will take on Cardiff City, one of the favourites for promotion, who currently sit third in the table. Following an FA Cup meeting with Huddersfield, Bolton will host Port Vale, who at the time are on a six game unbeaten run in League One.
