Sheffield United Target Manager and Player Reunion

Sheffield United are reportedly eyeing a reunion between manager Ruben Selles and central defender Tyler Bindon this summer at Bramall Lane, with the newly-appointed Blades Boss wanting to work with the Nottingham Forest defender once again.

Bindon enjoyed a largely succesful spell under Selles last time the pair worked together at Reading, which ended up being a full season on top of another half season.

However, will Nottingham Forest want to allow the exciting defender to depart this window?

Can Bindon fit in at Sheffield United?

With The Blades narrowly missing out on an instant return to the Championship, it is now all down to new man Selles to build a squad that he sees fit for promotion this time around. In large areas of the park, Sheffield United do seem to be strong enough, but central defence is an area that they could actually do some work upon…

Bindon offers an attracting style of play, with his sweeper-like defensive play but also his unmissable attacking statistics.

With 25 shots last season in League One as per FotMob, the New Zealander seems to be a massive arial threat, and the credibility of his accuracy in the passing department could see the Blades swoop in on a move.

Is Bramall Lane The Right Move?

At this stage of his career, a permanent move for Bindon away from Nottingham Forest does seem the best option.

Now at 20-years-old, the New Zealand Defender seemingly deserves a Championship move after his consistency at the heart of Reading’s defence over the last two years, but would a reunion with Selles be the best move?

The Blades already possess three centre-backs of quality in Anel Ahmedhodzic, Jamal Baptiste and Jack Robinson, which would place Bindon in serious competition at first team minutes.

You could say that the youngster could do with being in an environment of experience, but a bigger point of development in our eyes would be for the 20-year-old to be collecting regular minutes lower down the Championship table.

However, we’re not writing off the move.

Bindon could well quite quickly surprise and turn into one of the division’s best centre-halves, already knowing how Selles will like to set the Blades up this year, and having a special connection with his potential new manager.
