Sheffield Wednesday’s players and staff are due another monthly salary this week, but once again it seems that owner Dejphon Chansiri will not be paying many, leading to further uproar and worries in and around Hillsborough Stadium, with no pay for a second month going.
What Can Wednesday Do For Support?
At the moment, there really isn’t many options at all for those working within Sheffield Wednesday. The best chance they’ve got at catching attention from big football bodies is to contact the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), who may then push concerns on further.
It is more than likely that the club itself will receive another punishment, and Mr. Chansiri will once again be charged for failing to pay the salaries of his staff and players.
The situation at Hillsborough was worsened with the announcement of a long-term transfer embargo for The Owls, casting worry into supporters, players and staff alike.
The Sheffield Wednesday Ownership Domino Effect
As it is the second month in a row without payment, staff members within Sheffield Wednesday are once again looking to quit, and it also leaves many players with one big decision, to stay and fight it out with The Owls, or to simply walk away from their contracts and become a free agents.
The door will be left ajar for those who want it if this month’s salaries are once again not paid, which looks to be the likely case, but via an Alan Nixon report, those players that remain in Sheffield are planning talks with the PFA to try and request that the TV Income Funds are sent through directly to the players, instead of Mr Chansiri in a desperate attempt for some compensation as a result of missed salaries over the last 8-week period.
This situation is another display of how ownership companies or individuals are the sole causes of a total collapse within a football club, as Mr. Chansiri continues to request an extremely high price for the sale of SWFC to complete any kind of sale.
A value of £75 Million has been reported in recent weeks, and if Mr. Chansiri continues to push for that kind of money, The Owls simply won’t have any buyers to fulfill those needs.
Wednesday are now at risk of losing staff members that are crucial parts to the work that goes on behind the scenes, and also the threat looms of The Owls seeing big faces depart ahead of what could be a vital Championship season next year.
