Shrewsbury Town have fought off top EFL sides for 6ft 5in South Korean defender Isaac Lee; according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Salop have activated the 22 year-olds release clause.

According to O’Rourke, Stevenage, Plymouth Argyle, Peterborough United, Walsall, Bromley, and Salford City all showed interest in the 22-year-old, In the summer transfer window, it was reported that Cardiff City, Crawley, Toronto FC, Huddersfield Town and Swansea City were all tracking the defender.

But it is Shrewbury who activated a release clause included in his current contract with the Cymru Premier club Flint Town United.

Lee has been a regular feature for Flint Town this season, making 18 appearances in the Cymru Premier. The defender has also contributed in the final 1/3rd, scoring once in a fixture against Briton Ferry.

So far this January, the League Two outfit have added strikers Iwan Morgan and Trey Ogunsuyi on loan, and tied up a deal for out-of-contract former Wycombe and Stevenage midfielder Nick Freeman.

Lee’s Career Path

Isaac Lee’s early footballing years were spent across several English academies. He began at Stoke City, before continuing his development at AFC Fylde.

He later spent time with Totting United and Radcliffe, gaining experience across different levels of youth competition

In January 2025, Lee made a significant step by joining Flint Town United, a club competing in the Cymru Premier, the top division in Wales; taking the number 18 shirt.

This move marked his transition into senior‑level football, offering him the opportunity to establish himself in a first‑team environment.

With a market value of €50,000 as of late 2025, he is still in the early stages of his professional journey, but his profile indicates room for growth as he gains more senior experience.

Flint Town United have acted to prepare for the potential departure of Issac Lee by bringing in Max Purvis on loan from EFL Championship side Wrexham.
