Swindon Town finished mid-table in the EFL League Two last season, coming 12th with 62 points. Now, with a new season inevitable, Town will be looking to improve and push on up the table in the upcoming campaign.
Ahead of their opening fixture against Walsall on the 2nd of August, I sat down with Swindon Town fan Charlie Woods to talk all things Town in a Swindon Town interview.
Before we start, I would like to thank Charlie for taking part in this Swindon Town Interview. His responses were informative and aim to give you an insight into Swindon Town as a club currently.
The Swindon Town Interview
Question 1: Town Finished 12th Last Season, But, How Would You Summarize The Season?
“I think finishing 12th last season was a good result for us. We were bottom of the league by November, with all of us thinking we were down and out of the league before Ollie came in and propelled us up to 12th! Overall, the 1st half was utter rubbish, but the 2nd half was entertaining attacking football, showing us what we can look forward to for the upcoming season!”
Question 2: What Was Your Favourite Moment Of Last Season?
“My favourite Moment of the season was beating Bradford 5-4 in the last few minutes last season, purely just because they played very defensively and was winding up multiple of our players just for their lad to slot it past his keeper for the winner.”
Question 3: How Would You Rate Swindon’s Transfer Window Out Of Ten?
“I would rate the window 8/10 purely because we’ve managed to extend contracts of important players and then build on that by buying the missing players/positions that we’ve needed for the season!”
Question 4: Who Has Been Swindon’s Best Signing So Far?
“Personally, our best signing is a tough one with multiple good signings this window, I would probably have to say Munroe on loan. He is a player that reminds me a lot of Kesler Hayden, He will go far in his career!”
Question 5: What Area Of The Squad Needs Improving The Most And Why?
“I’m not sure there is any areas that massively need improving as it stands, but if I had to pick a position, I would say an extra defender or centre-back.”
Question 6: Are Swindon Town Prepared For The 2025-26 Season?
“I would say we are 110% prepared for the upcoming season, Holloway has signed the players he wants, He has the lads playing the formation he wants, all we need now is the squad to gel and we will be up there for this year!”
Question 7: Which Game Are You Looking Forward To The Most?
“I would have to say the game I’m looking forward to is the Bristol Rovers game, home/away, A good derby, and we have signed one of their former players, Bodin, so I’d expect that would be a bit of fuel to the games!”
Question 8: Is Ian Holloway The Right Manager For Swindon Town?
“If Ian is backed for the whole time he is here, He is definitely the manager for Swindon. The way he started to have us play last year and the signings he’s made this pre-season, I would say so.”
Question 9: Who Is Swindon’s Best Player Currently?
“I would have to say our best player is Wright or Smith, Overall, I’d have to say Smithy, who knows where we would’ve been without his goals/presence last year. Big character to look out for during the upcoming season.”
Question 10: Can You Give Me Your Prediction For How Swindon Town Will Do Next Season?
“Personally, I don’t normally predict, but I’m leaning towards 3rd at maximum. Minimum, we will finish 5th.”
