Charlton Athletic are setting their sights on completing a brave swoop on Luton Town goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski this summer, with the experienced Belgian exploring his options following The Hatters’ relegation down to League One, Football League World reports.
Kaminski, 32, is attracting interest from The Addicks as they look to ready their squad for what is going to be an intense and challenging Championship season next year, and the addition of Kaminski, despite being a brave swoop, could be one that pushes Nathan Jones and his side a step further in regards to the quality options that Charlton have in their ranks.
What Would Kaminski Bring To Championship Newcomers Charlton?
If Luton were to allow Kaminski to move on this summer and join Charlton back up in the Championship, there are many quality aspects that The Addicks fans can be looking forwards to seeing.
First off, experience. The 32-year-old shot-stopper has enjoyed a brilliant period with Luton, playing every minute of their 2023/2024 campaign up in the Premier League, which of course didn’t go to plan, but it provided Kaminski with some vital experience to bring into the next stages of his career.
Kaminski also brings some fantastic goalkeeping attributes, having an impressive 37% long ball accuracy and also a high number of saves recorded with Luton (through FotMob), despite it being a very challenging campaign for the Belgian shot-stopper.
Even though his goalkeeping ability has been questioned over recent seasons, there’s no doubt that Kaminski could well show his worth if he were to move on to Charlton this summer.
Why Thomas Kaminski For Charlton?
Charlton already have two first-team ‘keepers in Will Mannion and Ashley Maynard-Brewer, who have both shown their worth to Nathan Jones at The Valley, but it is believed that The Addicks are still keen to strengthen in the goalkeeping department and Kaminski’s attributes and statistics are enough to prove to the Charlton transfer team that he fits the bill.
It is also believed that playing at the highest level possible is of utmost importance for Kaminski himself, who wants to give himself the best possible chance for an international call-up with a World Cup looming in the next 12 month time frame, and Charlton could be the best opportunity that comes the way of the Belgian Goalkeeper to prove himself to the national team.
Kaminski could well be one shrewd piece of business for Charlton and Jones if they could get it done. It’s an ambitious target, but The Addicks know they have to pull off miracles this season if they want to remain in the Championship, with one of the most competitive campaigns to date looking likely.
