Three Players Watford Could Sign on Deadline Day

With the transfer window coming towards a close, here’s three players that Watford could look to sign in order to bolster their squad.

Watford

The window is almost at a close, with Watford only making 2 signings so far, with Edoardo Bove joining on a free from Roma, and Stephen Mfuni, the latest of which joined on loan from Manchester City.

The Hornets have also seen some outgoings this window, with Daniel Bachmann joining Leyton Orient on loan, and Moussa Sissoko departing to Panathinaikos.

Earlier last week, sporting director Valon Benhrami stated, “we’re close to signing two centre backs” (Mfuni and Golichidze), and there is space in the market for a “full back” but not looking for a “striker” in this window.

As signings are likely on deadline day,  here’s three players Watford could sign on deadline day.

Julio Soler

Currently at Bournemouth, a player the Hornets have looked at already this window, has struggled for games; however did feature in the 3-3 draw with Newcastle, getting a match rating of 6.8.

The young Argentine did feature in the U20 World Cup, where he played regularly with one assist against Italy and an average match rating of 7.3.

The Full-back is strong going forward, however, he can be weaker in the defensive area, but could add a lot of quality to the Watford Side.

Dan McNamara

Another fullback is being reported to join the Hornets, as per Alan Nixon on Sunday Morning.

McNamara currently plays for fellow Championship opposition Milwall however, has struggled for gametime this season under Alex Neil.

The Englishman can play in the left back position; however is more preferred in the right back role. He played a big part in the 22/34 season with an average match rating of 7.0, playing 35 games.

Millwall are looking for a loan move for the right back, and it would make sense if he were to be a backup option for Marc Bola on the left.

Jordan Zemura

As per Adam Drury, after Gracia’s sacking, he reported that Javi turned down the chance to sign Zemura earlier in the window when he was “In the UK and ready to join”.

The 26-year-old has struggled for game time at Udinese so far this season, with only 8 appearances, and with Pozzo owning Udinese, this could be a deal that resurfaces now that Gracia has departed the club.

The Zimbabwe international can play in the LB, LWB and LM role so could be the perfect option Watford are looking for in this position to cover in attack and defence.

Zemura is the perfect profile for Watford in the Championship as he has previous experience in this division with AFC Bournemouth, where he played a crucial role in their promotion campaign to the Premier League.

Watford should expect incomings on deadline day, with Saba Goglichidze expected to join up with the squad, and with Kyprianou’s expected long-term absence in midfield, another midfielder could come through the door.
