On Friday evening, Lincoln City announced that star man Jack Moylan had signed a three year contract extension to keep him at the LNER stadium until 2030.
The 24-year-old was already contracted to the Imps until 2027 after joining from Irish side Shelbourne back in 2024.
Michael Skubala’s side have been in incredible form this season. Currently, they are 20 games unbeaten and have lost just five games in League One.
Seven consecutive wins since the 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers on Valentine’s Day has seen them climb to the top of the table, where they are currently four points clear of Cardiff City after beating the Welsh side 2-0 last weekend.
Here we take a look at three reasons why Jack Moylan is so important to Lincoln City.
The Irishman plays in the ten role for Lincoln City and that role suits his game perfectly just behind either Freddie Draper or Rob Street.
The Imps strikers tend to hold up the ball and pull in one of the three central attacking midfielders.
Moylan is the type of forward who can turn a tight game with a moment of individual brilliance.
His dribbling, quick changes of direction, and ability to take defenders one-on-one make him difficult to mark.
He thrives in tight spaces and often looks for inventive ways to break down defences, whether it’s a clever pass, a sudden run into the box, or an unexpected shot from distance.
Moylan isn’t just a creator; he’s a proven end-product player. He has a knack for being in the right place at the right time to score, whether from open play or set-piece situations.
The 24-year-old has scored eight times this season for Lincoln, including a goal in their 3-1 win against Stockport County.
He has also enabled his teammates to get on the score sheet, recording four assists this campaign.
The number ten has always been prolific in front of goal. Prior to his move to Lincolnshire he scored 15 times and gained two assists in 36 games for Irish side Shelbourne.
It was this sort of consistency that alerted the Imps and since being at the LNER stadium, he has scored 17 goals in 77 appearances.
He was also nominated for the January player of the month award.
Moylan is not only brilliant going forward, his work rate for the team side of the game is also brilliant!
He ran the length of the pitch in the County game to complete the tackle and win the ball back for his team.
Despite his attacking flair, Moylan is also committed to the team’s defensive and transitional work.
He presses opponents, tracks back when needed, and supports teammates both on and off the ball.
His energy, resilience, and willingness to adapt to tactical instructions make him a dependable player, not just for scoring but for the overall cohesion of the team.
Coaches often praise him for his mentality, which balances individual talent with collective responsibility.
Moylan and Lincoln City are not done just yet this season either as they target promotion to the Championship.
The Imps are the first team to hit the 80 point mark and will be looking to keep their run going as long as they possibly can.
