Port Vale have appointed former Northampton Town man Jon Brady as their new manager. Here we look at three things he will bring.

Port Vale have appointed Jon Brady as the first-team manager on an initial 18-month contract.
This is a huge twist in the tail for the Valiants, as they hope to change their season around with their new manager at the helm.
With the club currently sitting bottom of the league table, and drifting away with 10 points separating themselves from 20th, this gives Jon Brady a huge task for his first stint at the club.
What will he bring into the club?
Jon typically favours a 4 at the back, whilst bringing tactical flexibility to his formations, as he is also known to switch to a 3 or 5 in his back line when necessary.
This is a huge advantage given to Port Vale, as they are used to playing with similar styles under their previous manager Darren Moore, therefore with their well-known style and overloaded wing-backs at the club, this already gives them a huge boost with their new manager.
Additionally, Jon Brady’s tactics require him to be a very good man manager, proving himself to make his team work hard, maintaining their structure and form which will be crucial towards giving momentum, as he has shown this at previous clubs such as Northampton Town, despite injuries and major barriers which could’ve prevented his success.
From his influence upon the squad, Jon will get the best out of the team, all the way from efforts to results due to his man management, and he will ensure the club will fight at the same ability from the start and to the end of the whistle.
This is evident due to last minute winners at his previous clubs presenting his pure desire to win games and gain results due to fighting until the end.
Furthermore, Jon also has a sense of loan talent development, which could also lead to a huge success for loanees such as Mo Faal, Joe Gauci and Dajaune Brown who are all yet to perform at their highest abilities.
From pushing this out of them, this will increase squad quality, depth and competition which will boost their chances when going into games
The man at the helm has a huge desire and belief with fan support, as the loyal and hard-working manager has a pure understanding of the culture and aims around the club that fans hold within Port Vale.
The Australian is also very clear on praise when things go well inside the club, and perfectly balanced this out as he sets alerts and focuses on negatives when things don’t go to plan, leading his interviews to provide a realistic statement and point of view around how the game went, and how supporters feel from happiness or disappointment.
Therefore, his pure connection to the fans will be a huge factor towards success with the club.
Proven from previous experience, Jon is a very loyal manager who can stick around with the club for an extended period of time to build a project with them and to achieve expectations.
For example, his 6-year stint at Brackley Town, and his development from being an U16 coach at Northampton Town, working his way up to being a first team manager shows his commitment and patience towards getting his reward in the long term run.
The long-term projects and objectives that he will set, require plenty of time and patience from every aspect around the club including; the fans, the board, the back room staff and the players, which Port Vale will be able to provide after such a difficult start to the season up to where they currently find themselves.
Finally, he will be happy to work with what he is given, which perfectly links to the Port Vale situation where they find themselves stuck in the relegation zone away from other clubs, therefore the time given to Jon will potentially lead him to dig the club out of the hole, or if relegation occurs he will be able to reset the club and build a team around his expectations and needs.
