Three Things We Learnt From Cheltenham Town FC v Barrow AFC

In this article, we will analyse the specific takeaways from Friday night’s League Two match between Cheltenham Town FC and Barrow AFC.

Isaac Hutchinson Proves His Worth

The Bristol Rovers loanee continues to have an exponential impact to the Robins since signing at the start of the season.

This game saw Hutchinson register a further goal and assist to his name bringing his tally for the season to 11 goals and three assists, moving Cheltenham’s star man into the top seven League Two goal scorers this season.

In addition to this, upon his second return to Whaddon Road, Hutchinson has provided at least one goal contribution from five of his last six games.

Whilst his January loan recall to the Gasheads did not work out the way they would have wanted, the former Derby County, Walsall and Crawley Town player continues to shine under the leadership of Cheltenham Town FC gaffer Steve Cotterill.

If the Robins are to kick on and possibly flirt with a play-off spot next season, it is absolutely pivotal that Cheltenham Town break their transfer record to sign the 25-year-old midfielder and build a side around him.

Robins Must Remain Focused

Despite taking the lead in the 15th minute courtesy of Tranmere loanee Josh Davison, Town took a noticeable step back and invited too much pressure from the visitors which ultimately led to a Barrow equaliser.

Whilst Cheltenham look to be safe from the drop this season, they must be careful to not let heads drop once taking the lead.

Cotterill has done a stellar job since taking over the reigns from Michael Flynn earlier this season but if they are to have a sniff at promotion/play offs next season, it is paramount they remain composed when taking the lead; especially against those in and around them in the table.

Substitute Impact

Even though George Miller did not make the Starting XI against Barrow, the striker proved that he can make an impact even from the bench.

Only 13 minutes on the pitch and Miller helped set up what would go on to be the equaliser for Cheltenham Town.

West Brom loanee Cole Deeming also made a considerable mark on the game, injecting a much-needed jolt of energy into the heart of Town’s midfield and ultimately helping to set things in motion for Cheltenham’s equaliser.
