The Top Five EFL Limbs Of The 2024-25 Season

The EFL is the beating heart of English football, where “limbs” – those wild, joyous celebrations that see fans lose themselves in a whirlwind of arms, legs, and pure emotion – create memories that last a lifetime.

The 2024/25 season has delivered some fantastic moments of chaos across the Championship, League One, and League Two

Here’s a rundown of the top five limbs during the 24/25 season, from Burnley’s derby triumph at Blackburn to Tranmere’s epic comeback at Accrington. These are the scenes that remind us why we love the EFL.

5. Burnley vs. Blackburn (Championship, Away at Ewood Park)

The East Lancashire derby between Blackburn Rovers and Burnley is always a proper battle, and this season’s clash at Ewood Park was no different. Burnley, pushing hard for a Premier League return, faced a Rovers side riding high after a strong run. When the Clarets scored a 60th minute winner, the away end erupted.

Burnley fans went wild, with bodies flying, strangers hugging, and fans spilling over each other in pure joy. The passion of this fierce rivalry, combined with the travelling support’s energy, made this a moment to savour for every Claret in the stands.

4. Birmingham vs. Wigan (League One, Home at St Andrew’s)

Birmingham City, back in League One and dreaming of promotion, took on Wigan Athletic in a fantastic match at St Andrew’s. The atmosphere was electric, with the home crowd loud and proud as always.

When a late goal sealed the victory for the Blues, the Tilton Road Stand turned into a scene of absolute mayhem. Fans were climbing over seats, hugging mates and strangers alike, and just letting it all out. With Birmingham back on the up and Wigan fighting to stay clear of trouble, this win meant the world, and the limbs were a real reflection of that passion.

3. Leeds vs. Sheffield United (Championship, Away at Bramall Lane)

The Yorkshire derby between Sheffield United and Leeds United at Bramall Lane was a belter. Leeds, chasing automatic promotion, brought thousands of fans to a ground where Sheffield United were desperate to get straight back into the Premier League.

When Leeds grabbed a late goal to make it 2-1, the away end lost it completely. It was a sea of pure Yorkshire passion, arms flailing, and fans going wild with pride and relief. Beating their rivals on their own turf made this one of the season’s most unforgettable moments for the travelling Whites.

2. Sunderland vs. Coventry (Championship, Home at Stadium of Light)

Sunderland’s clash with Coventry City at the Stadium of Light was exactly what the playoffs are all about. The Mackems, despite a rough patch earlier in the season had made it to the playoffs, showed their grit when Daniel Ballard smashed in a late winner.

The home crowd went absolutely ballistic, with limbs everywhere as fans celebrated a massive winner to secure their playoff final spot. Coventry, who needed a win, made it a tough fight, but Sunderland’s fans brought the noise and made this moment one for the ages. The raw emotion in the stands was pure EFL magic.

1. Tranmere vs. Accrington (League Two, Away at Wham Stadium)

Topping the list is of course Tranmere Rovers’ unbelievable comeback against Accrington Stanley at the Wham Stadium. Down 3-0 at half-time, Tranmere looked done for, but they fought back to snatch a 3-3 draw with a last-gasp equaliser.

The away end went into meltdown – limbs glore, fans climbing over the barriers onto the pitch, hugging anyone in sight, and just losing all sense of composure. It was the kind of moment that sums up the madness of League Two. Tranmere’s travelling fans turned despair into delirium, earning this the crown as the season’s best limbs.

Why These Moments Matter

The EFL is all about heart, soul, and those moments when fans let it all out. From Burnley’s away-day derby heroics to Tranmere’s miracle at Accrington, these limbs capture the raw passion of the Championship, League One, and League Two. They’re what keep fans coming back, whether they’re packed into an away end or roaring at home.
