Founded in 1888 after the merger of Walsall Town and Walsall Swifts, Walsall FC — known as the “Saddlers” in homage to the town’s saddle-making heritage — play their home matches at the Bescot Stadium. In their long history they became a founding member of the Football League Second Division in 1892, lifted the Fourth Division title in 1959‑60, and have seen periods in the second tier. Now in League Two, Walsall continue to bring a strong local identity, committed support, and a rich footballing past to the lower‑tiers of English football.
