Walsall midfielder Alex Pattison has heaped praise on his teammates following their latest win, a 3-1 victory away at Tranmere Rovers.

Alex Pattison

The 28-year-old made his first start at the weekend, following his move earlier on in the window from League One side Bradford City

The Englishman has appeared for the Saddlers in the EFL trophy and the FA Cup but this was his League Two debut.

Pattison assisted Dan Kanu’s goal during the win against Tranmere and he had a solid debut before being replaced by Charlie Lakin in the 76th minute.

Pattison’s Career So Far

During his time with the Bantams, ‘Patto’ as he’s affectionately known, made 50 appearances scoring 10 goals.

He struggled to regain his place following injury with the League One high-flyers earlier this season due to the form of both Max Power and Jenson Metcalfe.

He has also had spells with Harrogate Town and Wycombe Wanderers.

Quotes

Speaking to the official club website, Pattison admitted his excitement for the squad he has joined:

“I thought we were brilliant from start to finish,” he said.

“We came into the game with a gameplan, be defensively sound and get forward quickly into good areas and I think overall across the pitch we were brilliant so we take confidence from that into the remaining games.”

“Happy to get the assist for Dan, he’s been scoring a lot of goals so I’ve just told him to keep doing what he’s doing and I’m sure he’ll continue to score many more.

Jamma scores a great header, an unbelievable cross from Flinty ( I don’t know where he’s pulled that from) so it’s pleasing to see the goals are coming from all over the pitch – there’s a lot of good things about this group considering how relatively young it is.”

“I was proud to put on the shirt and buzzing to be out there and get my first league start under my belt, it’s been a while since I started a competitive game in the league so I couldn’t ask for much more on the day. It was great to hear the fans singing my name too, considering I’ve not been here long so that was a nice feeling for sure.”

“When I spoke to him (Mat) about coming to the club you could see straight away that he’s a genuine person,”.

“He’s a great guy and I’ve loved working with him so far as well as the lads, I keep saying it but it’s genuinely a great group, a close-knit squad and that can only help going forward – we all want to improve and it’s a good environment to work in.”
