Watford are interested in a Millwall full-back, as they look to add to their squad before the close of the transfer window on Monday

Watford have shown interest in Millwall right-back Danny McNamara, according to Alan Nixon on his Patreon account.
The club have been looking to bolster the defence in this January transfer window and the hierarchy see a right-back as a main target for the club in the closing stages.
It’s hoped that McNamara can force competition between himself and Watford starting right-back Jeremy Ngakia as well as current back-up James Abankwah.
McNamara is a right-back currently playing for Millwall. So far in 2025/26, the 27-year-old has played a total of nine games.
Eight of those appearances coming in the Championship, with one appearance in the FA Cup.
In 158 overall appearance for Millwall, McNamara has scored twice and assisted a further four times.
He also made his debut for Ireland’s Under 21’s side in November 2019, however, has not yet made a senior first-team appearance for his national team.
McNamara can also play as a left-back when called upon, however, it is not his strongest side. He has appeared at left-back for Millwall twice so far this season, in his very limited game time.
The player has struggled with injuries throughout his career with the majority of his injuries being with his knee, more specifically, his left knee.
McNamara had a serious knee injury in January 2025, which required surgery and nine months out of action.
The right-back has also suffered injuries such as a posterior cruciate ligament injury, which kept him out of action in late 2024. He has been back fully-fit since October 2025.
Millwall are open to letting the player leave in the closing stages of this January transfer window as he has struggled to get into the side this season and wishes for more game time at the same level.
The Millwall fans would be sad to see him go as the Lions are his boyhood club and they have been through so much together as one.
