West Bromwich Albion In Advanced Talks Over Defensive Signing

West Bromwich Albion are in talks over the signing as they look to make a move in the closing days of the transfer window.

West Bromwich Albion are one of the sides that are looking for improvement and progression in the closing months of the Championship season.

The outfit, who sit 20th in the league after their first 29 games of the season, have not won in their last five games and have lost three of these.

Meanwhile, even with the appointment of Eric Ramsay as the new Albion first-team manager, West Brom do not look to be improving.

With this in mind, the closing stages of this month’s transfer window could be crucial in improving both squad depth and quality.

So far this month, Albion have signed Max O’Leary from Bristol City on a permanent basis (in an effort to help the defensive unit of the side).

Now, according to The Telegraph, West Bromwich Albion are in advanced talks with Crystal Palace over the possibility of a loan deal for right wing-back Danny Imray.

The 22-year-old made 16 appearances for Blackpool in a loan spell on the west coast during the first half of the season, prior to being recalled by Palace earlier this month.

Meanwhile, last season, he made 42 appearances for League Two outfit Bromley, scoring twice and providing seven assists.

Now, with spells in both League Two and League One under Imray’s belt, it appears a step up to the Championship is on the cards.

Albion manager Eric Ramsay sets up with a 5-4-1 formation in games with two wing-backs (one on each side).

In their clash with Derby County on Tuesday, Issac Price played in the right wing-back position although Michael Johnston and Alfie Gilchrist have also played on the right side under Ramsay.

Therefore, the arrival of Imray could help to provide further depth in the position. Although, considering the depth in the right wing-back role, Danny Imray may have to fight to earn games in this role.

Meanwhile, should the signing occur, Eric Ramsay may choose to play the 22-year-old further up (where he played at Blackpool).
