QPR boss Marti Cifuentes looks as thought he could be on his way out of the London club but staying in the division, with West Bromwich Albion as potential suitors.
It is reported that Cifuentes has fallen out with the QPR hierarchy and wants to move to pastures new. Despite these reports, the 42-year-old bushed off suggestions he was looking to move on, when asked after his sides defeat to Burnley.
Not so far, I don’t know, why should I?” Cifuentes said when asked if he was looking to quit the club.
Asked of his upcoming talks with the R’s hierarchy, he added: “I guess it’s a regular things you will discuss with a football club at the end of the season. So for me it’s very natural to sit with the owners and CEO to do a balance (review) of the season, as I will do with my players and staff.”
“I said before that as long as I’m wanted, I’m very happy.”
Despite the Spaniard’s rebuttal, reports of West Brom’s interest have grown in the following days.
The Baggies, whilst taking their time to decide their managerial future, are said to be after a younger manager following a failed return for former favourite Tony Mowbray.
The clubs board believe Cifuentes can bring the same style of play and enthusiasm as Carlos Coberan, who led the club to the play-offs last season before departing for Valencia.
Cifuentes is in his second season at QPR. In his first year he took over from Gareth Ainsworth and helped keep the team up, this season Rovers sit 15th in the table, a final day win at Sunderland could have them finishing 13th.

The Spaniard has gained interest due to how he has worked under such as strict budget at Rovers alongside creating a style of play that in full flow, is exciting to watch. Last season Cifuentes guided the team to surprise victories over Champions-elect Leicester City and Leeds United.
Whist West Brom are keen on the manager, a formal approach would require approval from QPR’s board with Cifuentes still under contract.
Cifuentes is keeping his cards close to his chest but as the questions about his future grow so do the teams after his service.
