Aston Villa

Premier League giants Aston Villa are having an astonishing season and currently sit in third place in the top tier.

Unai Emery’s side are currently level on points with Manchester City and are only seven points behind leaders Arsenal.

Players such as Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins have had incredible seasons for the Villans.

Wrexham Defender Max Cleworth

The Birmingham-based side had shown an interest in Wrexham man Max Cleworth, but the 23-year-old has signed a new deal at the Racecourse Ground.

Cleworth has signed a 3 year deal staying with Phil Parkinson’s side until at least 2029 with a further year option available.

The defender has played all but one of Wrexham’s games this season, playing 28 times.

He has also played over 100 games across four seasons, achieving an incredible three promotions.

This includes the promotions from the National League, League Two and League One.

He’s now hoping to reach the premier league with Wrexham.

Despite being a defender, he also has ten goals and eight assists.

Quotes

On signing his new contract, Cleworth said:

“a very proud moment.”

“I’ve had a few contract extensions over the years, and they always feel really good when they happen, so I was really grateful that I could extend my stay here and look forward to the future, and concentrate on football again.”

Cleworth admitted fans have been asking about his future at recent games:

“I turned up to the game and it was all I was getting asked, but I genuinely didn’t know anything about it,” he said.

“It was always about committing to the club for me.”

“It took a bit of time to get the deal done and I’m glad that it’s finally come out, and it shows that commitment from me and from the club as well that hopefully we continue to do good things together.”

“It’s been a mental few years since I signed my pro contract,”
