Wycombe Wanderers Target EFL League Two TOTS Defender

The Chairboys are preparing for the 2025/26 season.

Versatile Walsall player Taylor Allen looks like he’ll be swapping the West Midlands for South
Buckinghamshire, making the step up to EFL League One after his current side failed to gain
promotion in the 2024/25 season.

This comes during a busy transfer window for Wycombe Wanderers which has seen them make several signings. This article comes following reports from TalkSport Chief Football Correspondent Alex Crook.

Taylor Allen’s Pivotal 2024-25 Season

The 25-year-old chipped in with a very respectable return of 10 goals and 7 assists for The
Saddlers – starting 44 of their 46 league games during the season. The Englishman has
spent 3 seasons at the Bescot Stadium, after previous stints with Forest Green Rovers,
Leamington, Gloucester City, Hereford and Nuneaton Borough.

Allen made a notable impact in Walsall’s promotion push, showing maturity, quality on and
off the ball and a fantastic set piece capability which caught the eye of plenty of teams. He
also comes with the added bonus of being able to play in the back-line as well as further
forward in the midfield – which is exactly what Wycombe are looking for after losing a
number of key players from their previous campaign.

After losing big names in Caleb Taylor and Sonny Bradley, Wycombe fans will be glad to see
some more defensive reinforcements, especially one of Allen’s quality. He also comes with a
lot of praise from players and colleagues alike, with many saying he is deserving of the
success he gains due to his ability and professionalism.

It’s fair to say The Chairboys have recruited well so far this window despite the losses, after
adding Caolan Boyd-Munce, Dan Casey, James Tilley and Armando Quitirna to their ranks
ahead of the 2025/26 season. They comes as they look to build a side capable of eclipsing their
unsuccessful play-off campaign.

Walsall Cashing In?

With Allen’s contract running out in 2026, it seems as if Walsall are cashing in on one of their
key components rather than letting him leave for free next summer. Furthermore, even with no current indications of figures, it should give the EFL League Two side some more cash to
reinvest for another promotion bid after their own play-off disappointment.

A Potentially Successful Signing For Wycombe Wanderers?

After impressing in EFL League Two last season, a move up to the English third tier is well deserved. But, can he succeed with a new side in a new division? Only time will tell. Give us your views in the comments below.
