Major Barrier Identified In Wycombe Wanderers Pursuit Of Aaron Morley

Wycombe Wanderers have been linked with a move for Aaron Morley but a major barrier may now prevent the move from occurring.

Wycombe Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Aaron Morley has featured 15 times for the Trotters in League One this season, however, he has failed to make the matchday squad in the last three games and has not featured in a league game since 29th November against Luton Town.

With Morley looking for regular first team football, the former Rochdale man has been linked with a move to former club Wycombe Wanderers who sit ninth in League One currently.

Morley appeared for the Chairboys 23 times during the 2024/25 season, scoring two goals and assisting a further four.

Furthermore, Wycombe will be looking to strengthen their squad to further climb the League One table.

Meanwhile, Michael Duff’s side may look towards improving their midfield specifically (which forms a key part of the side’s spine).

Wycombe Wanderers Barrier Identified In Bid For Aaron Morley

Now, a major barrier has been identified in the Chairboys’ bid to land Morley this January.

According to Bucks Free Press, reporting on the ongoing saga, Luton Town have joined the race for the 25-year-old.

Wanderers beat Bolton 2-1 at the weekend, with Morley seen training away from his teammates and also speaking to players of the Chairboys’ matchday squad, including members of the board.

Furthermore, prior to these links between Wycombe and the midfielder emerging, there had been controversy interlinked into the relationship between the two parties following the 25-year-old being recalled by Bolton at the start of this year when Wycombe had wanted to extend the loan deal.

With this in mind, and with Morley making 19 appearances in League One during the first half of the 2024-25 season, the links between the Chairboys and the Englishman may excite fans.

However, with the source also revealing a £500,000 price-tag and with Luton chasing the midfielder’s services too, there is arguably still a long way to go if Wanderers are to complete this move.
