Five Signings Millwall Should Make in January 2026

The five signings Millwall could make in this January transfer window to help secure a place in the play-offs.

Millwall FC

With Milwall sitting inside the play offs, it’s now or never for Alex Neil’s men to finally overcome their trickiest obstacle in recent history.

Getting players back fit has been the story of January thus far, the likes of Casper De Norre and Josh Coburn recently returning.

However, should the Lions truly wish to strengthen their promotion contending aspirations, recruitment is key.

Here’s five signings who I think would massively help the Lions.

1. Anthony Patterson (GK) – Sunderland

The 25 year goalie, born and bred in the North East, is a name who Millwall have had heavy interest in so far this January.

First team minutes have been limited with Sunderland this season for the former England U21.

From 42 appearances for the Black Cats last season, Patterson kept 14 clean sheets.

Championship proven, The Lions are looking to secure a loan deal for the 25 year old.

Wages are a barrier in negotiations however should this be overcome, the Lions have an upgrade in the goalkeeping department with this signing.

2. Barry Bannan (CM) – Sheffield Wednesday

Next up is a veteran of the Championship in 36 year old Barry Bannan.

The Owls’ captain has 6 months left on his deal at Wednesday.

With Millwall, Preston and Stoke all potentially interested, this is a deal Millwall should be all over, which I discussed here.

Financially, the deal may be necessary for the Hillsborough natives, with administration ongoing.

It seems a no brainer for the Lions to pursue signings like this and add further quality into midfield.

3. Bailey Cadamarteri (ST) – Sheffield Wednesday

Owls fans look away, I’m naming another talent of yours.

The 20 year old striker has got 2 goals this season, after a good spell at Lincoln last season.

The Jamaican got 8 goals in his time away at The Imps and has come back to earn regular minutes at Championship level.

For a cut price deal, it seems a saavy investment for the Lions to explore a deal for the young striker.

Could this be another cheap signing with high upsale value for the SE16 side?

4. Kendry Paez (Attacking Midfielder/Winger) – Chelsea

The Lions have established a relationship with Chelsea in recent history when it comes to the signings of young talent.

Zak Sturge is an example. The young left back joined on loan last season and impressed towards the end of the season.

This led to his permanent arrival in Bermondsey.

Another young player who could be on his way to the Championship is Kendry Paez.

The 18 year old Ecuadorian spent the first half of the season with Strasbourg.

However, opportunities have been limited and Chelsea are keen to loan him out in England and get consistent regular minutes.

For Millwall the deal makes perfect sense.

Kendry Paez adds skill and flair to the side, the difference between play offs/promotion or falling short once again.

5. Dom Ballard (Striker) – Leyton Orient

This is a name that plenty of Championship sides will hold an interest in.

The 20 year old striker has 15 for the season already in League One with the O’s.

Aside from the goals, this move would resemble exactly what Millwall are about.

Signing young talented players and giving them opportunities to sign, and sell on for big profit margins.

The deal makes perfect sense short term and long term.

You’d be surprised if the Lions were to be alone in pursuing the talent so it’s a speed game for the Lions should they pounce on this deal.

Final Thoughts

Millwall’s squad is arguably in the best state it has been in within recent history.

So with the injured players returning and some new names through the door, will we see Millwall finally in the modern day top division?
